Applications
- To prevent spread of fire, smoke and toxic gases.
- For sealing partition walls, doors, frames and floors.
- For seal around Fernoboard fire resistant batt.?For sealing fire resistant ducts, recesses, pipes, cablechannels and air ducts through walls.
- On porous substrates such as (prefab) concrete, brick, plasterboard, stucco, etc.
Fire resistant joint dimensions
For best fire resistance, the stated maximum joint dimensions should be observed. Joint ratios should be: joint width x 0.5 = joint depth. In case of joint widths smaller than 12 mm. maintain a joint depth of 6 mm.
Processing advice
Fernocryl adheres to dry, porous substrates such as stone, concrete, brick, plaster walls and plaster work. The surfaces to adhere on may be damp (not wet). Remove loose components in advance. In case of strongly absorptive substrates, a solution of Fernocryl in water (1:10) can be used as primer. If in doubt, or in case of unknown substrates, conduct your own adhesion tests and/or ask for advice.
Processing
Apply with standard hand, battery or air gun. Level and finish the sealant with a joint nail or moisturised spatula. If the sealant has not yet fully cured, tools and stains can be cleaned by means of water and a brush. Vulcanised sealant can only be removed mechanically.
